As persuaded as I am that the people who are chosen for different jobs, each according to his genius and profession, do well, I dare say that there are many people in the world, known or unknown, who are not employed and who would also do very well; and I am lead to this feeling by the marvelous success of certain people whom chance alone gave positions, and from whom no one had expected very great things until then.

How many admirable men, who had very beautiful spirits, are dead and are not spoken of! How many are still living whom people never speak about and never will!
